The Forge: The Next Evolution of BGC
The Future is being built next door, but who gets the key? Technology is transforming every sector – from health to construction to creative industries. Yet without urgent action, entire communities risk being left behind in the very economy they drive as consumers and culture shapers.
Register For The EventsA Look Back: The FORGE pop-up series in Inglewood
This summer, Inglewood showed up and showed out. On August 9, we kicked off The FORGE—BGC’s vision for an intergenerational tech + AI hub—with AI for Families, an evening of hands-on learning and real talk. Families explored an interactive AI bias activity led by Dr. Avriel Epps (BGC’s AI Expert-in-Residence), heard a fireside conversation with Former U.S. Congressman Tony Cárdenas and BGC CEO Cristina Mancini, and got a behind-the-scenes look at Code Along Jr. with host Kalani Jules.
We kept the momentum going on September 13 with Digital Safety for All, a practical, community-driven conversation about staying safe online—at home and at work. Our panel featured Dr. Elizabeth Milovidov (Roblox), Ret. FBI Special Agent Perry Woo, Donald Sumbry (Upbound), and Dr. Jay Barnett, sharing actionable tools for protecting kids, elders, small businesses, and our own well-being in a 24/7 digital world. Big thanks to Waymo for supporting the event, and for helping attendees arrive stress-free with 50% off rides. And to our partners and volunteers who made the day seamless.
Thank you to every student, parent, educator, leader, and neighbor who joined us. Your energy and curiosity are building The FORGE into what it’s meant to be: a space where creativity, learning, and opportunity thrive.
Take a peek at highlights from both events below. More to come, stay tuned!
