AI for The Entire Family: Join Black Girls Code at The Forge

Proudly launching The Forge, our new center bringing technology and community together to create opportunities for everyone.

Black Girls Code is pleased to introduce The Forge, the first-of-its-kind multigenerational community center located in the heart of Inglewood, ensuring these opportunities uplift the communities who have always called Inglewood home! The Forge is the next phase in our journey as we continue to expand to reach more individuals. We’re excited to welcome members of the community to the inaugural event of our Community Tech Advancement Series, kicking off this Saturday, August 9, from 3:00–6:00 PM. This inclusive event, themed "AI for Families," is especially made for K–12 students, families, and school administrators, and will be a powerful evening of conversation and connection.

Attendees will be immersed with an interactive introduction to AI, and fun sessions for the whole family. We’ll have everything from "Code Along" with Kalani Jules, book readings, and discussions, or possibly even AI bias coding experiments with our resident AI Expert, Dr. Avriel Epps!

By now, we all know that technology is reshaping our world at an unprecedented pace. What should be equally clear is that who builds it will define whose needs it serves. Whether it's helping with homework through ChatGPT or filtering photos on their phones, AI is truly becoming something part of everyone’s daily lives. Let's explore the possibilities of AI together and examine how diverse communities can move from consumers to creators of emerging technologies.

We look forward to building this future with you!
